Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS BIODIESEL?
• Biodiesel (biodegradable diesel) is an alternative to regular diesel; it has all the characteristics of regular diesel but is less polluting and cleaner for your engine and the atmosphere. Biodiesel is made from new or used vegetable oil, which goes through a chemical process to remove the fats and starches, it is then cleaned and filtered to produce a high quality, clean and cheaper fuel made from a sustainable source.
WHY SHOULD I USE BIODIESEL?
• Apart from being much cheaper than regular diesel, by using biodiesel you are helping to greatly reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide emissions.

CAN I USE BIODIESEL IN ANY REGULAR DIESEL ENGINE?
• Yes, nearly all compression ignition engines can use biodiesel without any modification. The diesel engine was initially designed to run on peanut oil! Biodiesel is supported by many major vehicle and engine manufacturers including VW, Jeep, Skoda, Volvo, Scania, MAN, Iveco to name but a few. Biodiesel is extensively used in America, Australia, South Africa and most EU countries, but is under used in the UK.
If your vehicle is still under manufacturers warranty, you will need to check what percentage of biodiesel they warranty the use of for your particular vehicle.
We recommend that when first using biodiesel to use 50% biodiesel / 50% regular diesel, then gradually increase the percentage of biodiesel.
Will I get the same performance and MPG?
• Tests and customers tell us some get better MPG and performance on biodiesel.
Is BioDiesel safe to handle and store?
• Yes, it is less toxic than salt and more bio-degradable than sugar.
Do I need to modify my vehicle to run on BioDiesel?
• No, BioDiesel is a great solvent and lubricant and will clean out any sediment in your fuel tank deposited by normal diesel. You, therefore, may need to change your fuel fi lter after about 500 miles.
Can I still use normal diesel too?
• Yes, BioDiesel and normal diesel can be mixed in any percentage. If you have any queries please contact us.
Points to Note . . .
BioDiesel has a slightly lower resistance in freezing weather. It is recommended that
a mix of 50/50 BioDiesel/normal diesel be used during unusually cold periods. If your vehicle is pre 1994, your fuel pipes may be made of rubber which, over time, may be broken down by BioDiesel use. You may, therefore, need to change the pipes to plastic pipes (all modern diesel vehicles are fi tted with plastic pipes as standard).
